I want to wish everyone a very happy Juneteenth. The more I’m learning about this day and its significance, the more I believe that it should firmly be a national holiday. It’s significance can’t be understated.
Foster and adoptive dads, I encourage you, if you have biracial or black children in your homes, you owe it to them to learn about this important day in American history. The children in our care and in our homes and in our families, deserve to know the full breadth and depth of their heritage.
Our white children and children from other ethnicities also need to know about this day that is of crucial importance to our nation’s narrative.
